Vladimir Putin has gone off the deep end. Many who have interacted with him recently question his mental stability. After all, this is a man who has decided that he wants to try to put the Soviet Union back together. He has ripped a page out of the Pinky & The Brain playbook in order to seek out world domination.
Not everyone in Putin’s close circle agrees with what’s happening. And one of his closest advisors has decided that he’s had enough. He’s jumping off the crazy train before it chugs itself right off the side of a cliff.
Anatoly Chubais has been a longtime advisor of Putin. Reuters recently reported that he has resigned from his position as the special envoy of the Kremlin and has even gone as far as to flee the country. In other words, he’s out.
This is an important move because it shows that Putin does not have the full support of the Russian people like he claims that he does. The former KGB leader has been losing a significant amount of support. Even those who are actively involved in the invasion aren’t fully committed to the cause – and it’s why Ukraine continues to maintain at least some control of its country.
Putin would love to think that he’s some fearless leader that everyone wants to support. And he may actually be mentally unstable enough to believe that he has the unwavering support of everyone in Russia. The reality is that he doesn’t – and with Chubais stepping down, it’s further proof that there’s trouble in paradise.
Chubais is a long-term Russian politician who once served as chief of staff to Boris Yeltsin. Now at 66, it’s clear that he’s looking out for himself more than for the leader that he serves. He has maintained ties with many Western officials according to Bloomberg. And while Chubais may have been active in helping Putin rise to power, he’s likely regretting that decision right about now.
Putin recently said that “any people, and particularly the Russian people, will always be able to tell the patriots from the scum and traitors and spit them out like a midge that accidentally flew into their mouths.”
He went on to say that there is a necessary “self-cleansing of society” that will help the country to be more cohesive and be ready to stand in solidarity against any challenge that may come their way.
Essentially, he has decided that it’s okay for Chubais to leave his side since he is just a midge. It is part of the self-cleansing that must happen in Russia, or so Putin believes.
The Russian president has been spouting a lot of different things lately about the cleansing of society. And, of course, this happens as our own president talks about a “new world order.” It really begs the question of what is happening around here. Are we about to see global domination? Is one leader going to step up and demand that all other countries bend to their will?
Let’s hope it’s not Putin. Biden should probably sit this one out as well.
It’s a good thing that Chubais stepped aside. He saw the writing on the wall – Putin is insane and will stop at nothing to gain the power he needs.
Putin doesn’t have the support that he needs. People are leaving his side left and right. He even had one of his top generals arrested.
It’s beginning to look oddly familiar – a president has lost his mind, and there’s unease not only in the country but inside of the government itself.
